Showy Daisy, Showy Fleabane, Aspen Daisy (Erigeron speciosus)

The dry stalk is good as tinder to start a fire. People once mixed it with bedstraw to keep bugs out of their mattresses.
Its crushed leaves and stems, even the flower itself, can be used as a mosquito repellent (it attracts flies, though). It is
toxic for ruminants; however, like all other daisies, the entire plant is safe to eat by humans (not using large amounts
nor consuming it with excessive regularity).
